There’s a whole row of food stalls, including fresh fruit and vegetables, which are cheap and top quality.

The streets of the Otara town-ship have a carnival atmosphere on Saturday mornings with throngs of family groups making their way to the rows and rows of stalls set up in the shopping centre car park. You’ll find fresh, cheap, good quality fruit and vegetables from the familiar to the exotic. The plants and flowers are equally good value and generous sized bunches are yours for only about $2.50 each.
 
Silverdale Markets

Every Saturday morning this market has a rush of local people buying the freshest locally grown flowers, plants, eggs and vegetables from the street and hall stands set up on the main street. Chocolates, Swiss cakes and biscuits, home made jams, pickles, preserves and jars of honey are all to be found here. Organic produce, natural soaps, garden ornaments and art are also keenly sought after products.

Different local musicians take turns livening up the scene, and there is food and drink for sale.
